(not so) out the door makeup look

We're bad at this game already, it appears. After our 2 week hiatus, we are back in the swing of things. We even purchased some lighting that will be debuting in the next video. This is us committing to our hobby.

Until then,

the semester has started again & we threw this look together which is a lot like our makeup regimen any other day. Sure, it might be a tad excessive for those who don't use the entire menu of cosmetics but we like it. Feel free to alter the steps to your pleasing.

Also, Meg is out of the frame most of the time. So, sorry. Or you're welcome.

We'll be back soon with everything you want to know about how to maintain 3 (maybe 4 or 10) day hair.

    1. Sephora & some department stores have a NARS counter, like Nordstroms.

  2. i am always afraid of using foundation. i can never get it to look natural and somehow i always end up feeling like my skin can't breathe. do you have any suggestions for how to apply foundation, or what brands/alternatives i might be able to use? i have pretty good skin that is fairly even, so mega coverage isn't really a concern. i've also been using the mac tinted moisturizer in medium but wasn't too pleased with it.

    1. oh, Grace,

Lex & I both use the BeautyBlender which makes a world of difference. It sheers out even the heaviest of foundations. I know you can find knock-offs at drug stores or even at TJ Maxx, but we both can't attest for them.

As far as actual products, (bless you for your even skin) I would suggest something lightweight. Lex & I are both currently using Nars Sheer Glow. It's fabulous. It can be worn as a sheer coverage, or built to a full. I (Meg) am acne-prone & Sheer Glow hasn' broken me out whatsoever. If you are looking for a drugstore alternative, perhaps you should look into the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation. It's modeled after the Urban Decay's sheer foundation. I haven't personally used it (as I am a full-coverage kind of girl) but I've heard really lovely things.

  4. I know you don't need me to point out my favorite part of the movie every time... but I'm probably going to. 9:20-9:25 BEST EVER. Seriously. I'm stoked about these videos you girls are doing. Way to be!

  5. Do you guys wear an every-day eyeliner? I feel like my eyes don't look complete until I have my black liner on but wouldn't mind ditching it for time sake-would you suggest compensating with a heavier eye-shadow instead?

    1. I (Meg) don't wear eye-liner most days. If I ever use black liner, it is accompanied with a heavy wing. For a softer look, but still adds definition to the lash line, I like using a dark eyeshadow & an angled brush, smudging along the lash line. In our future looks, I'll make sure to use that technique to show you!

  6. Great job divas! I'm curious how that foundation holds up on us oily faced gals. Also I loved the eyebrow portion especially because my eyebrow...innards (what? is that right?!) are always looking ratchet. #thestruggle Oh, I'm curious to know what primers y'all use. I need to find a good one and might bite the bullet and purchase the one everyone gets, the porefessional by Benefit. But I don't like buying things that are hyped up so much...what do you think?

    1. Oh, hey boo,

Nars Sheer Glow holds up for 4 or 5 hours, then I get shiny. But I love it so much for the 4 or 5 hours that I will probably repurchase because it looks FAB.

I haven't tried a lot of primers because I'm generally pretty lazy with priming. I have tried the ever popular Porefessional (Lex has also used it) & we both have really liked it. I suppose it's worth the hype. I also really like the Photo Finish Primer from Smashbox. If you find another that you like, help a girl(s) out & let us know what you like!

  7. I always have trouble with lipsticks! I live in a cold area and my lips are very chap-prone. What are your best tips for long lasting lipstick?

    1. Oh girl, lipsticks are my specialty (or vice. Perhaps both.) For something long lasting & will aid to chapped lips, the Just Kissable Balm Stains by Revlon, used in this video, is a must. It's a relatively cheap product which is a plus but it is a balm consistency so I won't dry your lips out.

If you are maybe needing a lip color to last for a long period time & you are willing to maybe suffer with a bit of the dryness factor, I definitely suggest lining your lips, filling them in & topping it off with the matte lipstick. I have worn that combo for hours without it budging.
